Details

Join professional photographer, David Featherbe, to learn how to get the best from your camera whilst enjoying special access to stunning wildlife.

The wildlife photography hide at Welney gives the best eye-level access to whooper swans and pochard ducks in the UK. The daily feeding of these birds brings them right up to the hide and encourages other species such as tufted duck and at times wigeon, gadwall and pintail. The area of wetland next to the visitor centre provides a safe place for hares and as such provides close access to these charismatic mammals.

David has spent many years using the wildlife and landscape at WWT Welney as his subject matter and so knows how to get the best images of our most famous spectacles.

Equipment needed: A digital SLR camera is essential for this workshop as well as at least one lens of at least 300mm. David will contact you via email or telephone to talk about the equipment you have and to suggest any additional items which will be of benefit. Warm clothing and stout footwear are essential, wellington boots may be needed. We will contact participants close to the time of the event to advise of conditions on the reserve.
