Details
Join conservators May Berkouwer and Anna Peck as they undertake a test clean of a patch of the original caffoy wall coverings in the Saloon.
Over hundreds of years, these wall coverings have suffered extensive light damage. Originally they would have been entirely red, but now the effects of light and dirt are showing up as yellow and purple colours.
May and Anna will demonstrate their delicate cleaning techniques and talk about the history of the wall coverings and how we hope they can be restored in the future. Spotlight talks are included in standard hall admission and last for around 15 minutes.
Level access to shop, café, walled garden, Holkham Stories Experience and hall's ground floor. A stair climbing machine gives access to the hall's first floor for most manually operated wheelchairs. Full access information is available on our website.
