Details

West Lynn sits on the west bank of the River Great Ouse across from King’s Lynn. A ferry has linked West Lynn to main part of King’s Lynn since 1285 and continues to provide a regular passenger ferry service Monday – Saturday. The ferry provides an ideal way to view the beautiful historic quayside of King’s Lynn as you approach it from the river and is a convenient service for commuters and shoppers who wish to avoid travelling and parking in the town centre. The alternative route by road is about 2 ½ miles.

West Lynn is one of the two end points of the Peter Scott Walk which follows the Wash sea bank 10 miles west to the Peter Scott Lighthouse near Sutton Bridge. It is also a good starting point for following the Fen Rivers Way which follows the River Great Ouse south to Downham Market and Ely before joining the River Cam into Cambridge.

West Lynn has a range of local shops. St Peters church has its origins in the Norman period, but was substantially rebuilt during the 13th century. It has a 14th century west tower, 15th century alterations and a vestry dating from 1922.
